Kino Cottage is a work of art, designed by the world renowned Architect Nari Gandhi. It’s a coveted beach front bungalow in versova covering an area of 20,000 square feet including a swimming pool, a front garden, a backyard porch, a dance floor, and living spaces. Nari gandhi’s design philosophy, for the uninitiated, stems from everything being organic and to blend natural resources from built to unbuilt.

One of the most challenging site that was worked upon. The challenge was to blend Architect Nari Gandhi’s design philosophy to the client’s requirement without compromising either.

Client briefs versus keeping Architect Nari Gandhi’s design philosophy intact versus using eco friendly materials at the same time minimising the use of wood, not using leather as per the client’s request.

The project was designed while maintaining the existing classic stone walls and glass facade, a swimming pool cladded with Jaisalmer stone, with sunken seats and a submerged bar. Created two distinct individually styled bedrooms each complementing the personality of the inhabitants. The bathrooms have luxurious floating tubs, complete with handy bars, TVs, and built-in music.

Nari Gandhi’s creation, is a highlight in itself… nevertheless the place is full of small surprises like a tilted book shelf that adorns the bedroom wall for ease of stacking books, a walk-in wardrobe built around a living tree, a bar on the ground floor that complements the existing space, an outdoor banquet, et al.
