Kino108 Bar, Versova, Mumbai

Kino 108, located in Versova, Mumbai, was an Upmarket, Swish, Celeb-spotting Retro / Gastro-Bar made with an Out-of-the-box demeanour that comes across as Stylish, yet Comfy.

CLIENT REQUIREMENT

Required a Buzzing place that would cater to the regular drinking crowd coupled up as a diner and extend into the night as a night club where the night creatures converged after the normal crowd went home.

CHALLENGES

To integrate a 4000 square feet area, into two different crowd sets was a challenge. Space for DJ console was a challenge.

SOLUTIONS

To integrate different crowd sets, one from 7pm to 12 and another from 1am till 3am (in those good old heady days when bars were allowed to be open later than 1am!) Retro rock theme that was edgy yet classy was zeroed in on. So, that the place could start off with easy rock ballads and then continue on with house music that was complemented with ochre lighting making the place night-clubbish.

A deck was made to house the DJ that was clubbed as a stage. Instead of supporting the deck from below and obstructing the passage below, the deck was supported from the ceiling. The pole that supported the deck was converted into a dancing pole, converting it into a pole dancing arena for fun. Many a voluntary spontaneous pole dancers paid tribute to the pole, untill the moral police forced a closure!

HIGHLIGHTS

An imposing 16 feet x 8 feet mural of Jim Morrison was crafted out on the wall. The hermit or the honest man of Led Zeppelin showing the way to all coming in at the entrance.

AWARDS

Kino108 bar won the Times Nightlife Award for “Best Bar with Dancing – Noteworthy Newcomer” in 2011
