SANTE BAR, BANDRA, MUMBAI

Sante is a quaint little chilled out bar hidden in plain sight in Bandra, the Party suburb of Mumbai. The kind of place that makes you feel at home and unwind as soon as you step foot in it.

The place was a pre-existing indoor bar, very dark, dingy and lounge-ish in appearance. The client wanted to convert it into a more lively, buzzing, cheerful hang-out place. Plus there was a nice outdoor area which was to be made in a way that it complimented and synchronised with the indoor space.

This was challenging as there were no windows connecting the indoor and outdoor areas. They wanted a semi-casual ambience, not your walk-in-in-your-shorts, anything-goes kind of place but an upmarket but light-hearted place that was not formal or snooty, and yet let people be themselves.

We changed every single thing inside, the flooring, the walls, the furniture, the colors, the lighting, everything revamped, the furniture was made youngish, all lounge elements thrown out and replaced with ochre and wood theme elements. The outdoor and indoor were made to blend in the same feel by using the same color theme, space usage and lighting.

A vintage chariot kept outdoors, very popular with clients as a photo/selfie prop.

A water fountain that adds the water element to the atmosphere.

The texture on the walls was created and applied by Arrshie herself Hands-on to have that special Peeled-out, Washed-down look.

The long wooden table at the center of the place seemingly suspended in the air because of being crafted with a giant ‘U’ shaped cantilever running right through the floor.
