SWEY, South Mumbai’s freshest, relaxed, ambient, warm, happy, chilled-out, open-to-sky, go-to terrace bar where you can BE yourself . . . passionately put together by AESTHOS.

Located on the rooftop of a south mumbai mall that had seen better days, Swey had to be designed such that it would become the reason for people to make their way up to the terrace bar… yet be casual and relaxed enough so that people can be themselves without too much fuss.

The owners did not want to be constrained by any theme, any concept, any category or any pre-assumptions when it came to the look and feel of the place. They insisted on designing a place without any preconceived notions or guidelines, sort of a Creative-Clutter that invokes a feeling of uncluttered space. The brief was a lot more vague than this. Actually, there was no brief… just a lot of spontaneous, often self-contradictory, never-ending thoughts. Add to this, this project accorded us the opportunity of working with 2 of the most hard-to-please clients on the face of this planet.

14000 Sq Ft of prime rooftop space divided into diverse yet seamless experience zones, out-of-the-box innovative creative bar fronts for all 3 bars, Patterned floor and pathways, a living room created bang in the middle of the bar complete with sofas, side tables and a TV set, Walls adorned with hand-painted Art, Quirky props (planter boat, wheel burrow, telephone booth, ring swings, sailor’s ropes railings, etc), Assortment of warm, feel-good lights, Retractable roofing, and an invisible yet tangible under-current of comfortable casualness.

A sumptuous & sensory mix of night sky, cool breeze, warm lights, upbeat music, flowing spirits, amazing food, generous space and creative design, SWEY manages to transport you to a much higher, joyful level than the 4 storeys it’s perched upon above the bustling south mumbai street.

It’s not trying to be contemporary, organic, bohemian, minimalistic, classic or distressed… it simply intends to be a space that inspires people to be informal, unstressed and unserious in an unboxed atmosphere… It’s a place that defies categorisation.” – Arrshie Singh.
